October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and many children placed in foster care have been or have seen abuse in their homes. Abuse is one of the main reasons they are removed from their homes.
Right now I'm in the middle of putting together everything for next month's featured group, and this one is really difficult.
Being immersed in the stats and watching videos of real people telling their story has been a bit overwhelming.
But the stats can and are changing. We can be a part of that change, one small thing at a time. I hope you will join me next month, even though it may be difficult and overwhelming to you too.
I can force myself to acknowledge the realities and face the heartbreak in the hopes that a future child won't have to live through the heartbreak.
It is the least we can do for them.

Did you know that diapers can't be purchased with food stamps and can cost $70-$80 per month per baby? On top of that, most childcare centers, even free or subsidized facilities, require parents to provide a week's worth of disposable diapers. If you don't have an adequate supply of diapers, childcare is hard to find, which makes obtaining (and keeping) employment even more challenging. Join us in our fight to end #DiaperNeed today! Our online wishlist makes is easy! https://bit.ly/2QjvVPq
